GR gets re-districted (again)

Payne-Pascrell
Congressman Bill Pascrell, who has represented Glen Ridge for the last 15 years - is out.

The redistricting commission has issued the new map of New Jersey's congressional districts, and just as happened when the state legislature was redistricted earlier this year, Glen Ridge has been shunted into a new district - NJ's new 10th Congressional District.

As things stand now, it looks like, as of January, 2013, our new congressman will be Donald M. Payne.

A LETTER FROM MAYOR PETER HUGHES

Hughes370

[This letter was issued by
Mayor Peter Hughes this morning]

Message to the residents of Glen Ridge
regarding the impact of
last weekend's snow storm

Last weekend's snow storm caused significant damage in Town. In the aftermath of the storm, approximately 1/3 of our homes in Town lost electric power, cable service was interrupted, trees were damaged, roads were closed, and traffic signals were put out of service.

The clean up began even before the storm ended. Beginning around noon on Saturday, GR Public Works crews worked throughout the storm, removing snow, and clearing downed limbs from roadways, driveways and sidewalks. The GR Police Department increased the number of patrols and responded to reports of traffic signal outages, downed electric wires, and downed trees and tree limbs. Borough officials worked all weekend to monitor the storm and assess its impact. Communication with PSE&G began immediately as we learned of electric outages around Town.

Coming soon to your doorstep -
An old favorite with something extra!

Cover-tilt
It's that time again - time for the new "Kiwanis Book" to be distributed to every home in town.

The Glen Ridge Directory is the "go-to guide" for many folks in GR. In addition to the phone listings for GR residents (especially handy now that Verizon has eliminated the Residential White Pages) and information about local businesses, the book is an invaluable resource with information about local organizations, health resources, rules & regulations, GR Schools and the Borough Government.

But the 47th Edition of the Annual Glen Ridge Directory, which will be delivered to your doorstep within the next week or two, comes with something extra - the GR Kiwanis Club has added a new online version of the popular Directory - www.GlenRidgeInfo.com.

The new online version will have everything you've gone to the Glen Ridge Directory for, plus regular updates about local news and events. Like the Directory, all proceeds from www.GlenRidgeInfo.com will go towards the Glen Ridge Kiwanis Foundation's Scholarship Fund - a 501(c)(3) Charity.

And don't worry - www.GlenRidgeInfo.com is intended to supplement - not replace - the venerable Kiwanis Directory.
